Dimapur, July 11
Rson Computer Institute, a Dimapur-based new entrant in IT services, will be providing free computer education for the downtrodden. The noble initiative is a program of Rson Heart for Poor People Trust (RHPPT). The institute was inaugurated by Advisor to Urban Development SI Jamir in Grace Colony, along Firing range in Dimapur town on Saturday, July 11.After the inauguration, SI Jmair said that there were lots of organizations in Nagaland and the numbers of theological colleges and institutions was substantial compared to other states of the country. Dimapur town has the maximum number of these NGOs and colleges, he said. But, he questioned, whether the individuals running theological colleges were operating in the name of God or their intentions are simply to make a living. If it is just for money, he said, it is inappropriate.
Citing ‘behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining’ he remarked that the RHPPT mission will not only inspire the Naga society but the entire country.
Protection Officer (Institute Care) of Dimapur Child Protection Unit, Vepotulu Ringa also spoke during the event. In her speech, Ringa maintained that child rights were as important as adult rights. She said that children are being abused across the society.
Urging on the need to spread the message of children’s need for protection and care, she pointed out that many children were being lured with promises of getting jobs outside the state. However, they are ‘tormented and abused’, she said.
Ring also said that more than the ignorant child and parents, every individual should be held responsible for perpetuating exploitation by being a silent observer to the needs of destitute and children. Encouraging the audience to protect children from exploitation, she said that the violation of a child’s right begins at home ‘right from the womb to the development of a child’. Taking the occasion as a stand to promote protection of child rights, she called on the citizens to be the change if they wish to see change.
The program was presided over by RHPPT chairman Dr. Roland Lotha who founded the trust in memory of his son, Rson. Lotha Baptist Church Pastor Yanbemo Lotha dedicated the center. Ajungla Yaden of Eastern Bible College and RHPPT Kids also performed music for the audience. The benediction for the program was said by Indisen pastor, Temjen Ozukum.
