Dimapur, Aug. 28(EMN): A book celebrating the lives of Rev. Dr. Tuisem A Shishak and Margaret Anne Shishak titled “as we know them the Shishaks” was released on Saturday at Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), Chumoukedima-Seithekema.
The book was an initiative of Patkai ’92-‘97 batch and edited by Lanuchuba Walling, Abenla Aonok, Petekhrienuo Sorhie and R Chumbemo Ngullie.
During the programme, an alumnus of the college Adani Ngullie shared that, in 2017, they had a reunion and made two resolutions. One resolution was to collect money and provide educational grants to the children of their classmates who passed away, while the other resolution was to constitute a committee to write about the Shishaks, which subsequently began in 2018.
They wanted to release the book in 2020 but it was delayed due to the pandemic, she said.
Speaking on behalf of the editorial team, Lanuchuba Walling lauded the Shishaks for their selfless and kind nature and said that “the book will tell the story.” He also shared that while working on the book, he had the opportunity to work with old friends of the Shishaks from Nagaland as well as the USA. He also thanked everyone who contributed towards the book.
Also speaking at the programme, Rev. Dr. Tuisem A Shishak said that he considered Patkai alumni as his greatest achievement in the ministry so far. Speaking to the alumni, he said “your failure is our failure and your success is our success. Stop following the light and truth and that is when you will see failure.”
With few days remaining to be 90 years old, Rev. Shishak informed that he is writing a biography and hoped to complete the book before he turns 91 years. He also expressed that the book by the Pataki ‘92-97’ batch was the best gift for their 51st marriage anniversary this year. “Thank you for giving us another time to smile,” he said.
The vice principal of Patkai Christian College, Agel Sonari, also expressed that the Shishaks have been an example to many who wanted to achieve and fulfil their dreams. She also thanked the organisers and encouraged them to continue working for the welfare of the college.
