DIMAPUR — Nine
villages in Nagaland encompassing three districts —Zunheboto, Mokokchung and
Wokha—have been declared as ‘Swachh Sujal Gaon.’
The announcement was shared by Minister for PHED, Jacob
Zhimomi, on his official X account on Thursday.
Luvishe New and Lizuto villages in Zunheboto district and
Longjemdang, Longjang, Chuchuyimlang, Changdang and Aonokpu villages under
Mokokchung district, have been declared Swachh Sujal Gaon.
Wokha village and Koio village in Wokha district also made it
to the Swachh Sujal Gaon list.
The Sujal and Swachh Gaon is a government of India
initiative aimed at sustaining Open Defecation Free (ODF) status in villages,
alongside improving access to safe drinking water through the Jal Jeevan
Mission (JJM).
