KOHIMA — The eight edition of Handshake Concert, an annual musical and cultural event, was held at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima, on Tuesday.
Artistes from Nagaland, Assam and Wales performed at the concert attended by Governor La. Ganesan, Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, and a host of other dignitaries.
The Handshake Concert was organised by Rattle and Hum Music Society.
Advisor to the chief minister and Chairman IDAN, Abu Metha, in his address said the Handshake Concert has travelled to nine countries.
The concert, he noted, has created a platform for artistes not just from Nagaland but from Northeast and rest of the country, an international platform for youngsters and musicians to realise their dreams and aspirations.
For the last more than 60 years, Nagaland has made great contributions in India's journey. From bureaucrats to leaders in public service to luminaries in the judiciary and soldiers, Nagaland has given its best sons and daughters to the service of the nation, the advisor shared.
He noted that young people of Nagaland are writing a different story, the courage to take on the world best exemplified in the field of music and art.
"Our artistes, musicians, actors and cultural ambassadors make India proud in international locations", he added.
Artistes who performed at the concert include Seyievinuo Chuzho, The Nagaland Madrigal Singers, Zayie Zacchaeus, Phu Music India from Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Welsh female artist Mari Mathias, Sunshine Orchestra, and the Eastory.
