KOHIMA, JANUARY 18
The 54th meet of the Southern Angami Sports’ Association (SASA) which is set to begin Thursday morning at the Local Ground, Kohima will have 80 wrestlers competing in the traditional Naga style wrestling.
Minister for Forest, Environment & Climate Change Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire will grace the inaugural function at 9.30 am as the chief guest while MLA Er. Vikho-o Yhoshü will be the guest of honour.
Some of the prominent wrestlers to be watched are Visevo Zashümo, Vitsoto Vitsu, Vizali Toso, Kezhaleto Lese and Sohovi Phinyo among several others.
The champion in Naga style will fetch a cash prize of Rs.80,000 while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th position holders will be awarded Rs.60,000, Rs.40,000 and Rs.20,000 respectively. The quarter finalists will be awarded with Rs.5000 while the winner in senior category of free style wrestling will carry Rs.6000 and runner-up will get Rs.4000. The prize for the junior/cadet category is set at Rs.4000 for the winner and Rs.2000 for the runner-up.
SASA general secretary Vilekho Bio will chair the inaugural programme while presidential address will be delivered by Er. Zale Neikha, SASA president. The administration of oath to the wrestlers will be done by SASA wrestling secretary Zaprani Mekro.
