Eight violin students from the Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter has been selected for the upcoming ‘Concert of Friendship’ organised by Dr. AR Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory with the British Council, Chennai as part of the India/UK Together - Season of Culture.

‘Concert for Friendship’ will bring together over 100 young musicians and will feature works of classical composers, as well as Scottish melodies, Naga and Tamil folk songs and Carnatic melodies.

Dr. Adam Greig - Academic Coordinator KM Music Conservatory in a mail to Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) stated: “We are bringing young musicians from Big Noise, Sistema Scotland to join with our musicians from KM and The Sunshine Orchestra for a week (Feb. 25 to March 4) of musical and cultural interactions culminating with an Orchestral Concert at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, Chennai on March 4 at March 7.30 PM.”

The eight violin students selected from Nagaland for the concert are from Kohima Orphanage & Destitute Home.

The Sunshine Orchestra Nagaland Chapter is a music project initiated by Dr. AR Rahman and the state Government and under the kind patronage of the AR Rahman Foundation and TaFMA, Government of Nagaland.
