Dimapur, Jan. 22: The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) has declared ‘banishment’ of eight individuals, all of them Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) candidates to the municipal and town councils. They have been ‘banished’ for “defying the community resolution on ULB election,” the organization stated in a press release that was issued to the media on Sunday, January 22.
They have been “banished” for seven years, according to the CPO’s statement, in accordance with “Chakhesang customary law.”
“The following 8 (eight) NPF candidates from Phek town council are hereby banished from Chakhesang region of Phek district for defying the community resolution on urban local body election adopted on 3rd and reaffirmed on 9th January 2017 for a period of seven years with effect from 17th January 2017 as per Chakhesang customary Iaw,” the organization stated.
“Henceforth any individual / group dealing with them or any expultionists (sic) found within the Chakhesang region of Phek district shall be doing so at their own risks.”
The individuals the CPO named are Wetsole Rhakho, wife of Nuvosa Rhakho of Phek village; Nesucho Keyho, son of It.Dutso Keyho of Phek village; Veduhulu, wife of Sedevi of Middle Khomi village; Vezhopra Thingo, son of Vepiyi Thingo of Thipuzu village; Avi Movi, son of Panyi Movi of Zhavame village; Salie Khesoh, son of Vekhusa Khesoh of Phek village; Neiwekhe-u Khesoh, wife of Murhaveyi Khesoh of Kutsapo village, and Viketou Nienu, son of Vekusa Nienu of Sohomi village.
