DIMAPUR, February 3
The 7th Edition of the Inter-District Veteran Football Championship started at the local ground Wokha on February 2 with Dr. T.M Lotha, Advisor for Treasuries & Accounts & Relief & Rehabilitation as the chief guest.
Speaking during the inaugural function, the chief guest expressed gratitude to the Nagaland Veteran Football Association for organizing such kind of tournament to encourage and motivate the youngsters in the field of games and sports. Further, he encouraged the veterans to continue to motivate young talents so that they could excel to higher levels. He also added that government is also trying its best to improve the infrastructure facilities in the state to explore and make use of young talents.
President Nagaland Veteran Football Association and former DGP Kire, IPS Nagaland also informed that the next Inter-District Veteran Football tournament will be hosted by Phek District. Short speech on behalf of District Administration was delivered by SDO (C) Wokha Thavaseelan, IAS. Defending Champion Mokokchung defeated Tuensang 3-0 in the first match of the game. While Peren, Phek, Dimapur and Kohima games ended in a goal less draw after playing the full allotted time.
