MADFA clinches title at the 78 Battalion CRPF Women's Volleyball Tournament held under SPANDAN in Dimapur.
DIMAPUR — The 78 Battalion CRPF, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India, Dimapur, concluded its Women’s Volleyball Tournament organised under the "SPANDAN – Sports for Peace and Development" initiative at B Company, 78 Battalion, NIDC in Dimapur on Thursday.
The four-day tournament, held from September 7 to the 10th, was organised to promote women's participation in sports, youth engagement, peace, and inclusiveness. A total of 18 women's volleyball teams from across Nagaland took part in the competition.
According to an update, in the final match, MADFA defeated VOLARIS to emerge as the champions. Titanias and Unity Club secured the third and fourth positions, respectively.
The closing ceremony was attended by Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula T Imchen as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Imchen highlighted the role of women in nation-building and societal development, observing that women are making strides across diverse fields, including education, science, sports, public service, security, and administration.
She stated that active participation in sports fosters confidence, discipline, leadership, teamwork, determination, and a positive outlook among young women and girls.
Commandant of 78 Battalion CRPF Deven Bhosle expressed confidence that the tournament would encourage wider participation among women in sporting activities. He also invited sports enthusiasts and the public to take part in the upcoming state-level half marathon, "Nagaland’s Biggest Run", scheduled to be organised by 78 Battalion CRPF in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India and the Government of Nagaland on October 5 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima.
