Dimapur, August 9 (EMN): A function to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement, also Known as ‘August Kranti’ Andolan was held at Raj Bhavan Kohima on August 9. The Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, PB Acharya along with officers and staff of Raj Bhavan Kohima paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion. Commissioner & Secretary to Governor, Piyush Goyal, IAS, said the Quit India Movement was launched on August 1942, demanding an end to British Rule in India. He said that the movement was an important milestone in the Indian freedom struggle. He added that it was one of the important moments in the journey of the nation that altered the course of history and led India to attain its freedom on 15th August 1947. Goyal also informed that the Government of India is urging everyone to take a pledge to create a New India that is strong, prosperous and free of communalism, casteism and terrorism.
