The 6th Horsepower Challenge 2015 will commence Thursday at Nagaland Football Association Ground, Meriema village.
The inaugural day of the three-day event will witness the qualifying round for Autocross (SUV) and motocross, to be followed by the final for Autocross (SUV) and motocross on Friday (October 16) at the same venue.
Day-three will witness both the qualifying round and final of Autocross (Car) and Supermoto at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. The declaration of winners for all categories and prize distribution would be held on the final day at Kisama at 4 pm.
The 6th Horsepower Challenge is organized by the Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC) and supported by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland.
Even this year, there are riders and drivers from across the country and Northeast competing in the championship. Mention be made that Supermoto has been introduced for the forst time in this year’s championship. The other categories are SUV (autocross), motocross and Cars (autocross).
The total prize money for this year’s championship is Rs. 3,30,000. All the three winners of every class would be awarded with cash prize, trophy and certificate.
The track at NFA Ground, Meriema will be Dirt track with long stretch, sharp turns, jumps and slash, while the track at Kisama Heritage Village will be Tarmac with long stretch, sharp turns, obstacles and gravels.
The Nagaland Adventure Club was formed in 2010. Since then, the club has been creating platforms and opportunities to develop our local riders and drivers.
While promoting sports in the State, the NAC over they years has been immensely contributing towards promoting tourism in the State. In the past championships, drivers and riders from across the country have participated at the Horsepower Challenge, and that itself had been an achievement in letting others to know about Nagas.
