Imphal, July 25 (EMN): Community Health Centre (CHC) at Yairipok village in Thoubal district has the highest patient population in the state, said State Health Minister Langpoklakpam Jayentakumar during the assembly session on Tuesday. According to reports, CHC Yairipok received not less than 150 patients excluding emergencies every day.
Reacting to question on inadequate staffs particularly the doctors, Minister Jayentakumar assured that two more doctors will be provided at the CHC Yairipok e as soon as possible. Presently there are only two doctors against the requirement of 10 at CHC Yairipok.
Health Minister also informed that the state has only 694 doctors against the requirement of 1385 doctors for both hills and valley districts. “there are around 220 medical officers (doctors) undergoing further studies in diverse fields, so currently utilising only 474 doctors for the health care services,” stated Jayentakumar. “So the government is facing lots of challenges in taking up rationalisation initiatives,” and we’re trying our best to serve the people with all these limitations,” added Jayentakumar.
Responding to MLA Meghachnadra’s he said that additional medical officers have been posted at Primary health centres (PHC) at Khoirem and Charangpat both in Thoubal district in the recent rationalisation. He also assured that around 30 doctors who had completed post graduate course in diverse fields will be provided according to the requirement at the health centres. Taking part in demand discussion session of the health department, Meghachandra demanded proper functioning of 24X7 services at CHC Yairipok by providing the required number of doctors.
Education and labour minister Radheshyam said a total number of job seekers registered through state employment exchanges in the state was 8,16,888 where 5,71,583 are males and 2,45,305 are females as on January 31, 2017. He also said that the people who are registered in the employment exchange do not include the self-employed and working in private sector enterprises.
“A person on getting a job can also register in employment exchange as an employed person on production of ‘No objection certificate’ to the effect that the employer has no objection on applying for a better job in any department,” Radheshyam added. In Manipur, there are sixteen CHCs.
