Kohima, Jan. 4 (EMN): The 65th Lhisemia Day was held at Indoor Stadium, L Khel in Kohima village on Wednesday with Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, chairman of NVBOCWWB, as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Yhome has stressed on the need to preserve values and cultures of the forefathers in this rapid changing society. Dr. Yhome also highlighted on the importance to have vision and work out strategies in order to enable the society progress.
Noting the fast pace urbanisation taking place, he has stressed on the need to be conscious of what is happening around. He further told the gathering to respect one another.
Chairman of Lhisemia Council, Ayie Yhome, has shared greetings and highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the council.
On the occasion, the general secretary report was presented by Mengukhrietuo Marcus Dzuvichu, who also informed that the Lhisemia Constitution has been drafted and approved. He also stated that Lhisemia and Pfütseromi (Tekhoubamia) friendship centenary celebration was held to 'revive and reaffirm the age old century friendship.’ He also stated that Lhisemia play field was constructed and inaugurated adding that Lhisemia gate was inaugurated last December.
Other reports from Lhisemia gate construction committee and building committee were presented on the occasion.
The programme was chaired by Zapuvizo Liezietsu, vice president of Lhisemia Council, while a prayer was offered by Rev. Fr. Dr. Vizosieo Solomon Vizo, parish priest of St. John the Evangelist Church, Khonoma. The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Neiketouzo Suokhrie, treasurer of Lhisemia Council.
