KOHIMA, AUGUST 12: The 5th edition of the Nagaland Spelling Bee Championship 2016 is scheduled on October 6 and 7 under the theme “The learning Edge”.
This was announced this evening by the organizers during a press conference held at Ramietech Solutions building, Kohima. The venue for the championship would be held at Capital Convention Centre, opposite Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima. The Spelling Bee Championship, since 2011, is being organized annually by Fountain Club, in collaboration with the State Council of Education Research Training (SCERT), Government of Nagaland.
The organizers informed that the champion for this year’s edition will be given a cash award of Rs. 60,000, while the second, third and fourth position winners will receive Rs. 40,000, Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively along with citations and trophies. The losing quarterfinalists will also win a cash award of Rs. 5,000, informed Vilekho Bio, convenor of this year’s edition.The forms for the contest would soon be made available in several outlets. The last date of form submission is on September 23. An amount of Rs. 200 would be realized from each participant as entry fee and no forms would be entertained after the last date, it was informed.

Forms can also be availed from all SCERT (DIET) centres in districts of Mokokchung, Wokha, Phek, Mon, Tuensang, Zunheboto, and Dimapur. Like the previous years, the eligibility criteria for a speller must be of minimum 8th Standard and maximum of 12th standard. He/she should be a regular enrolled student under a school/college that is registered under the Nagaland Board of School Education or any other nationally recognized/affiliated to the Board of Educational institutions in Nagaland.
The first day of the competition will conduct the preliminary round, while the second day will witness the final round. A school would be allowed to send two participants.
