DIMAPUR — Deputy
Commissioner of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, attended the inaugural programme of the
5th Mon International Trade Fair and Expo as the guest of honour on Wednesday
at local ground, Mon.
In his speech, the DC thanked all the stakeholders,
partners, singers, actors, and viewers for their participation and efforts in
organising the event, according to an update.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by Mon being a remote
area and highlighted that the Mon International Trade Fair & Expo has been
successfully organised consecutively for five years despite these difficulties.
In his speech, the DC thanked all the stakeholders,
partners, singers, actors, and viewers for their participation and efforts in
organising the event.
He also spoke about the significance of such events being
multilateral, as they provide local entrepreneurs with an opportunity to
showcase their products and, at the same time, learn new things from outsiders.
He appealed to the local people to interact and share with
outsiders to gain more ideas. He added that interacting for 10 to 15 days, even
as a small village, contributes to social change.
The DC spoke about the gradual development and expressed
hope that this legacy would continue in the coming days. Later, he inaugurated
and inspected the stalls.
Short speeches were also delivered by Bandang Wati, SDPO;
Manpang, a representative of the Konyak Union; and Tingshim Wangnao, treasurer
of all Wards of Mon.
