- DIMAPUR — The 5th
edition of the Departmental Sports Week, held from March 10 to the 12th,
concluded at Bhandari, Wokha.
- According to a DIPR report, in his speech, the Additional
Deputy Commissioner of Bhandari, Longasen Lotha, lauded the heads of
departments and government employees in the Bhandari sub-division for their
proactive role in making the sports week a success.
- He encouraged the participants to recognise that winning
alone is not the central objective of sports week but rather maintaining
physical and mental health.
- He said that such tournaments provide platforms for building
good relationships, promoting friendship and discipline through teamwork, and
should be valued as a source of motivation in serving the people to the best of
their abilities.
- Altogether, 24 departments participated in the tournament.
In the final football match, the 7th NAP defeated the School Education
department by four goals. In badminton singles, the district administration
defeated the Education department, while in doubles, the 7th NAP triumphed over
the district administration in the final.
- In carrom singles, GHSS defeated the Forest department,
while in doubles, the 7th NAP won against GHSS. The district administration and
DEF, Wokha, won over the Social Welfare team in the women's penalty shootout.
