Kohima, July 20 (EMN): The department of Land Resources, Kohima division has trained 50 youth from the district on driving skills under the flagship programme of PMKSY (erstwhile IWMP). The youth were trained at Rutsa Driving School, Kohima.

The programme has been aimed at providing the youth with sustainable source of livelihood. The department on Thursday held an event to distribute certificates of completion to the 50 youth at the conference hall of the Land Resources department, below new secretariat, Kohima.
The department aims to target around 120-130 youth – 2 trainees from each village under Kohima district – to undergo the said driving course.
The director of Land Resources department, Hoto Yeptho, told the trained youth that their learning was a foundation on which they could build their lives on.
Dr Menuosietuo Tsiekha, the district project officer of Kohima in his keynote address, said that the initiative started when the department took note of the unemployed youth engaged as village guards.
Khriesaneisa Rutsa, the proprietor of Rutsa Driving School, shared that the school has trained around 2500 youth since 2011.
