With the onset of the festive season, the State capital Kohima is also becoming a haven for criminals and their activities. Within the last two days, five persons have been arrested for involving in separate crimes. Kohima police arrested one extortionist on December 9 evening at around 3.20 pm. The culprit identified as one Ase-u Kense (24 yrs), son of Pfusiesa Kense of Tuophema village and resident of New Reserve, Phesama, Kohima, is a SS Sgt Maj in NSCN-U.
He was apprehended by the police personnel of South police station, Kohima while extorting a sum of Rs. 1500 from a shop located at South Point Market, Kohima.
A criminal case has been registered against him and he is remanded into police custody. In a separate incident on December 8 evening at around 6.30 pm, the youth of Pezielietsie colony, Kohima red handedly caught one of its colony residents while he was on the verge of stealing one Maruti Gypsy. He was later handed over to the police.
The accused has been identified as one Haitwabe Namgi (23 yrs), son of Paurangbe, of Poilwa village under Peren district. A case was registered against him and the police have filed a 24 hours charge-sheet against the arrested person.
Again on December 8 at around 5 pm, one Dzuthozo Kezo (19 yrs), son of Kutits Kezo, of Pholami village under Chizami sub-division, Phek district was arrested on charges of stealing LPG cylinders. The accused is a resident of Upper AG colony, Kohima.
The police also recovered two nos of LPG cylinders based on the statements of the arrested person.
In this connection, Kohima South PS has registered a criminal case against him and he has been remanded into police custody for a period of 72 hours.
Even on December 8, two persons namely Chandeshwar Sah (39 yrs), son of Nand Lal Sah of Finarabazar village under Motihari district of Bihar and Suraj Sonar (39 yrs), son of Kumar Singh Sonar of Ghoshbihar village under Ghoshbihar PS of West Bengal were apprehended for selling tobacco products by tampering with the original products.
Both the culprits were residents of Kezieke, Kohima. They were arrested by the youths of Merema village in the afternoon of December 8 and later handed over to the police.
