The 4th National Lok Adalat in Nagaland settled 204 cases with a total settlement amount of INR 2.96 crore across all districts.

DIMAPUR — A total of 204 matters and disputes were settled during the 4th National Lok Adalat conducted in all the district headquarters on Saturday. The total settlement amount was INR 2,96,55,316.
Organised under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), the cases were taken up and settled by the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) in all the districts. According to a press release, this was the final quarter of National Lok Adalats held across the country for the year 2025.
A total of 1,342 cases were taken up. The nature of the cases included bank recovery, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases and other civil matters which were at pre-litigation and pending stages.
Kohima: The Kohima DLSA conducted the Lok Adalat at District Court, Kohima, and it was chaired by Asenla Longkumer, panel lawyer of Kohima DLSA.
Mezivolu T Therieh, principal district and sessions judge and chairperson, Kohima DLSA, gave a brief insight into the function of the Lok Adalat. She also spoke on how Lok Adalat settles cases with common sense, compassion and consensus, unlike court cases.

Cases taken up for bank recovery were 760, while cases taken up for BSNL were 300. Two cases were taken up on Money Suit. The total number of cases taken up was 1,062. A total of 28 cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of INR 17,13,998.
Dimapur: The Dimapur DLSA conducted the Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex, Dimapur. The proceeding was chaired by Longshithung Ezung and Atoka Achumi as presiding officers. During the proceedings, 77 cases were taken up, and 69 were disposed of, amounting to INR 1,08,88,353.
Mokokchung: The Mokokchung DLSA organised the Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex, presided over by Julian Sitlhou, chief judicial magistrate-cum-secretary, Mokokchung DLSA.
Serving as conciliators were retainer lawyers Watitemjen, Molodongba, and Chubarenla and panel lawyer, Mokokchung DLSA. A total of four bank recovery cases were taken up during the session, and all four were amicably disposed of. The total settlement amount reached INR 5,20,000.
Wokha: The Wokha DLSA conducted the Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex, Wokha. Seyielenuo Mezhu, district and sessions judge and chairperson of Wokha DLSA, was the presiding officer.
Forty-three pre-litigation BSNL telephone recovery bills and three pending trial bank recovery/money suits were taken up. Forty-one pre-litigation cases were disposed of. The total settlement amount was INR 44,330.

Peren: The Peren DLSA conducted the Lok Adalat at the SBI Tening Branch with Atoka Achumi, secretary of Peren DLSA, as presiding officer.
A total of 90 pre-litigation cases were taken up, out of which 13 bank loan cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of INR 11,31,500.
Mon: The Mon DLSA organised the National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex, Mon, presided over by Nokshei Kano, district and sessions judge-cum-chairman, Mon DLSA, and Wokono Yhoshii, chief judicial magistrate-cum-secretary, Mon DLSA.
The conciliators were Advocate Angun Konyak, retainer lawyer, Mon DLSA; Advocate Mannon, chief LADC, Mon; Advocate Topha, panel lawyer, Mon DLSA; and Advocate Moba, chief LADC, Mon. A total of 10 bank recovery cases were taken up, out of which four cases were amicably settled and disposed of. An amount of INR 30,26,931 was settled in total.
Tuensang: The Tuensang DLSA conducted Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex, Tuensang. The National Lok Adalat was presided over by Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman Tuensang DLSA, Somet Chumden Chang, with Retainer Lawyer Tuensang DLSA P Herola and Chief LADC Antimangyang as the conciliators.
Altogether 13 bank recovery cases were taken up, and 10 bank cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of INR 21,66,145.
Kiphire: The Kiphire DLSA conducted Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex, Kiphire. Holika Sukhalu, secretary, Kiphire DLSA, was the presiding officer.
A total of six cases were taken up, out of which two pre-litigation bank loan cases were disposed of through amicable settlement, involving a total settlement amount of INR 4,91,400.
Zunheboto: The Zunheboto DLSA conducted the Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex. Judicial Magistrate First Class-cum-Secretary Zunheboto DLSA Cheliam Khiamniungan was the presiding officer.
Easter H Yepthomi and Vilibo K Zhimo were the conciliators. Altogether five pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up, and four were disposed of with a total settlement amount of INR 7,52,263.
Phek: The Phek DLSA conducted the Lok Adalat at the District Court complex. Duvelu Vero, district and session judge-cum-chairperson of Phek DLSA, was the presiding officer.
Sekhotso Rokha, retainer lawyer; Vethothi Vero, chief LADC; and Thukutalu Chizo, panel lawyer, were the conciliators. A total of 17 cases of bank recovery loans were taken up and disposed of with a settlement amount of INR 23,15,956.
Longleng: The Longleng DLSA held the Lok Adalat at District Court with the SBI Longleng. A total of four cases of bank loan recovery were taken up and disposed of with a settlement amount of INR 10,04,471.
Secretary Longleng DLSA Kumdilong Kessen, presiding officer, briefed the gathering about Lok Adalat. Retainer Lawyer K Bongyei Phom and Panel Lawyer L Yingloi Phom were the conciliators. PLV Yingli also participated.
