The 4th Altrura Open football Tournament 2016 culminated on April 15 at Medziphema Town Local Ground, Dimapur with Sarah S Jamir as the guest of honour at the closing ceremony.
In her speech, she congratulate the Altrura Society for being selected as the ‘state best youth club award’ by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Nagaland Zone under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (GOI) and also acknowledge the Altrura Society for involving in social activities by organizing games and sporting events for the youth, She said football in particular is a very beautiful game which inspired the nation in bringing people together like nothing else in sports bringing forth the people under an umbrella igniting the spirit of friendship among the people, she appealed to all the players to maintain true sportsmanship spirit with discipline and excel in State, National, International level as well.Earlier the programme was chaired by Nguvikolie Chüsi, Gen.Secretary Altrura Society (AuS), Pastor Perheikielie Khro Medziphema Town CRC invoked God’s blessing, While vote of thanks was proposed by Zakiesielie Chüsi, Member AuS.
This Year State Sports Academy(SSA) Dimapur emerged as the champion (3-2)of the prestigious tournament and walked away with a cash price of ` 50,000 along with the trophy and Green Hill Club bagged the runners up and walked away with a cash prize of ` 30,000 + trophy respectively.
Country Boys was adjust the best discipline team of the tournament and was awarded ` 10,000 while in Individual Category followings were declared as winners: Fastest Score Nyithung (2.53min) from SSA, 1st Hatrick-Victor (Amateur Sporting Club), Player of the tournament-Tingnyek (SSA), Best Goal keeper-Neithovilie Chalieu (SSA), Best Defender-Asiu(Green hill Club), Highest Scorer-Kivi (8goals) from SSA they were awarded a cash award along with a trophy.
Altogether 32 teams from all over the State participated in the 10-day long tournament. The Altrura Society thank all the sponsors, patrons, donors, medias, well wishers and all the teams for the grand success of the tournament.
