The 4th Altrura Open football tournament, under the aegis of Altrura Society got underway today, on the theme, ‘Goal for Unity’ at Medziphema Town Local Ground with Kuolachalie Seyie, Chairman Sanitation & Env Committee, Businessman and Social Worker as the special guest of the opening ceremony.
While acknowledging Altrura Society for working with a sense of difference with its whole purpose is to serve and not to be served, Kuolachalie in his inaugural speech said that the initiatives for the youth capacity building is commendable and a positive contribution to our society. He also stresses on the importance and benefit of sports and football as it fosters and promote unity through discipline.
Sharing his concern about the problems of the youths unable to find a place in today’s competitive world inspite of our state Nagaland possessing a vast rich natural flora and fauna with so many talents particularly in the field of sports, Seyie lamented that due to lack of commitment, steadiness and perseverance the people of the state are lacking behind.
Also stressing on the important qualities i.e, discipline, commitment, humility and positive attitude with “can do mentality”, Seyie maintained that one should posses these must have qualities to achieve greater height in every aspects of one’s life. Citing an example from the story of the Hare and the Turtle, he said slow and steady with commitment and focus to achieve can lead one to become successful men and women in life.
Earlier the program was compered by Information & Publicity Secretary Altrura Society (AuS) Neivikho Savi while Pastor Medziphema Town Baptist Church Keviuchülie Mezhü pronounced the invocation. The keynote address was delivered by President AuS Megosielie Kruse and greetings by Chairman Medziphema Village Neikhonyü Kuotsu.
The gathering was enthralled with a special number presented by Kezhalesie Kuotsu, oath taking by assistant games & sports secy. AuS Shurhotsilie and vote of thanks delivered by Mhasileto Medoze, Advisor AuS.
Altogether 32 teams from different parts of Nagaland are participating in this year tournament. The opening match was played between Legend Club Cmd vs Jharnapani Youth Organization.
