A free eye camp at District Hospital Longleng conducted 45 cataract surgeries and offered eye care services to local residents.

DIMAPUR — A free cataract surgery camp was conducted at the District Hospital, Longleng, from October 6 to the 11th.
According to a DIPR report, the camp was organised by the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB&VI), Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, in collaboration with Longleng Town Baptist Church as part of its 75th anniversary celebration.
The camp was inaugurated with a prayer led by Rev. Pastor Beau of Longleng Town Baptist Church (LTBC). It was held under the supervision of Dr. E Phyantsuthung, state programme officer, NPCB&VI, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima.
A team of medical officers and staff, including Dr. Ramdeu Lungalang, junior eye specialist, District Hospital, Mon; Dr. Thejavitui Kire, junior eye specialist, District Hospital, Longleng; and supporting staff from Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) Mokokchung, the CMO office, and District Hospital, Longleng, took part in the programme.

During the camp, 241 patients were examined, 45 successful cataract surgeries were performed, and 20 presbyopia glasses were distributed to patients in need.
The initiative aimed to provide free eye care services to people of Longleng district and neighbouring areas, raising awareness on avoidable blindness and ensuring accessible treatment for all sections of society.
Dr. E Phyantsuthung expressed appreciation to Longleng Town Baptist Church for their collaboration and support and to all officers and staff who rendered their services during the camp.
