DIMAPUR — The 43rd Greenwood Sports Meet at Greenwood School in Kuda village, Dimapur, commenced on Wednesday with Vikie Nagi, council chairman of Kuda village, as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Nagi, an alumnus of the school from the first batch of 1981, reminisced about his school days and emphasised that the event is not just a celebration of sports but also an acknowledgement of the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and determination that athletics instils.
Sports teach invaluable lessons about discipline and fair play, shaping not only athletes but also well-rounded individuals, he said. He urged all participants to engage in sports, emphasising that it is essential not only for fitness and well-being but also to offer various opportunities.
Nagi encouraged everyone to give their best, build friendships, and, most importantly, enjoy the experience.

Nagi reminded everyone that the event is not just about winning but also about learning and growing together. He encouraged participants to celebrate the meet with good sportsmanship, aiming to make the event a memorable one.
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Asito Peseyie, director of Greenwood School, stated that the school has always been indebted to Kuda village and the council, as their support—physically, morally, and financially—has been a source of strength.
The two torchbearers for the four-day event were Vekulhou and Lhouvisanuo, both from Class 12 and winners of the most medals at the 2023 sports meet.
