Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): Four railway staff namely Pradip Kumar Mohali, Sr. Section Engineer/P-Way/Azamnagar; Arindam Paul, Loco Pilot/Goods/Alipurduar Jn; Tarun Kumar Biswas, Sr. Asst. Loco Pilot /Goods/Alipurduar Jn and Nikunja Kumar Boro, Track Maintainer-Grade-IV/Rangiya, were awarded by General Manager NF Railway Sanjive Roy for their exceptional devotion towards duty.
A press release issued by the NF Railways Maligaon on April 2 mentioned that on February 11 2018,
Pradip Kumar Mohali while performing trolley inspection between Azamnagar – Kumedpur station noticed some irregularities in piers between Khurial and Kumedpur station in down line. After inspection of the bridge he found reinforcement between pile and pile cap was naked. He immediately informed all concerned and imposed a speed restriction of 20 kmph for train running. Thus a possible mishap was averted.
Arindam Paul while working 15767 up Intercity Express between Chalsa and Nagrakata is said to have noticed one baby elephant with mother standing on track at km 67 / 4 and another two wild elephants were also noticed on the same day crossing railway track at km 163 / 4-5 between Raja Bhatkhowa and Alipurduar Jn station. On seeing the elephants emergency brakes were said to have been applied.
On February 18 2018 Nikunja Kumar Boro while performing duty as key man at gang no – 62 detected a rail fracture at km 390 / 2-3 between Changsari and Agthori section. He immediately controlled approaching train no – 55818 dn passenger train by informing all concerned. Thus a possible mishap was averted, the release added.
In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing mishaps/accident the staffs is said to have been given cash awards of INR 2, 500 each with a certificate by the General Manager of N.F. Railway.
