Dimapur, June 23 (EMN): Amidst accusing fingers pointed towards the NSCN (IM) for stalling the ongoing 4 lane road construction works between Dimapur and Kohima, the former broke its silence and termed the impasse to misunderstanding purely within the Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU).
NSCN (IM) statement through its MIP today claimed that it has been overseeing all kinds of developmental projects being undertaken within Nagalim to see that works are executed according to the specifications and quality is maintained for the good of the Naga people, adding the ongoing constructions of 4 lanes road between Dimapur and Kohima was no exception.
It stated that NSCN has been reminding the ECI and Maytas Gayatri from time to time to ensure that works quality is maintained and completed within the stipulated time. Besides, it stated that they have also been strictly instructed to employ local labourers and workers for the ongoing works.
While observing that the construction works was halted on June 16, it said the NSCN officials enquired from the engineers working in the fields as to why works have suspended the work to which they responded that it was due to heavy rain on the previous day.
NSCN (IM) resented that by June 17, social media and print media had gone to the fullest by directly pointing fingers at the NSCN blaming for halting works in which ‘unrecognised and un-mandated organisation like ACAUT and the likes of KK Sema and Joel Rengma joined the bandwagon.’ It said even the Governor of Nagaland, Padmanabhaiah B Acharya was pressurised to such extent that he also rushed to Delhi and complained to the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh. Adding to all these, it was surprised that ACAUT had gone to the extent of serving three-day ultimatum on the NSCN.
To set the matter clear, when the NSCN (IM) enquired from the NCSU as to what game they are playing, the latter had reported attributed to “communication gap” within the NCSU itself to which it stated that clarification would be made the following day. However, it stated that “next day” went unanswered while giving a free hand to the local and social media to play havoc against the NSCN/GPRN.
It stated that Pele, president of the NCSU, who has been reportedly playing all the games from behind, when summoned by the kilo kilonser, Hukavi Yepthomi on June 21, admitted that he was using one Neibu Angami, deputy kilonser from Unification Camp ( GPRN/NSCN) as his works supervisor. He also admitted to clarify the matter for making the media make false allegations against the NSCN/GPRN.
However, NSCN (IM) was surprised at the clarification of the NCSU in local papers on June 23 mentioning about the agreement on June 21 to resume works on June 22 because the NSCN was not dealing with NCSU but with the companies directly.
Stating that the ‘so called’ misunderstanding related to the halting of works was purely within the NCSU, NSCN (IM) has requested the public to understand from that perspectives and refrain from unfounded and wild allegations.
