Dimapur, October 29 : The Chumukedima-based Chakhroma Public organization (CPO) has lent its support to “contractors who got the work” for the proposed four-lane Dimapur-Kohima highway “under its jurisdiction.” The organization issued a press release on Saturday. “In pursuance to 4 laning of Dimapur-Kohima Road, the Chakhroma Public Organisation has resolved in its meeting to support the contractors who got the work under its jurisdiction,” the group stated. “As per the information from National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), it is learnt that the work of two packages within the CPO jurisdiction was allotted to M/s Ramky and ECI (Joint Venture) by NHIDCL for a chainage (sic) of 1) 123.84 to 138.775 Km (existing 124-140 KM) and 2) 138.775 to 152.49 Km (existing 140- 156 KM).” The CPO asked village councils, landowners, and individuals “should” cooperate and extend “necessary support to the contractors while they execute the works, since this Dimapur-Kohima road is one of the most important roads for Nagaland.” The CPO “appealed” to citizens that “no oppositions, obstructions and objections should arise within its territorial domain” during said work. “In case of any disturbance or disruption to smooth functioning on the project by any elements, the CPO will deal with all seriousness within its jurisdiction. The CPO also requests the contractors that local / village authority’s services should be availed in order to avoid any misunderstandings with the contractor’s labourers and the villagers, since every village has its own territory,” the organization stated. The CPO asserted that it had “full faith and confidence” that the two “reputed firms” would complete the work within schedule “without compromising the quality of work as per the specification given by the authority.” In the event of “any inferior quality works or manipulation of items of work,” the CPO said it will “have to raise objection to the concern authority against the contractors.”
