Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): The 3rd Open Kalos Marathon under the theme "Towards clean election" took place at Pfutsero under Phek district on Saturday.
Minister for environment, forest and climate change Neiba Kronu flagged off the men's category at Chida post junction, Khezhakeno while the women's category was flagged off by Vechiilo-u Kanuo, executive director CWWS at Zuketsa. The finishing line was at Pfutsero Sports Complex.
Altogether, 217 runners joined the event with 32 villages under Phek district, 12 tribes of Nagaland and 9 states of India.
During the prize distribution ceremony, Kronu asked the gathering to work hand in hand together and bring a change to the society.
He expressed his happiness over the young people running a race to support clean election.
“With determination and with will power our society can be changed too,” he said and expressed that clean society, clean election is all that we want and together hand in hand, clean society and clean elections can happen in our land.
He informed that the Pfutsero town multi-purpose stadium will be opened very shortly.
A standard ground for sports lover is also under-way, where district and state events can be held in the future, he said.
