3rd National Lok Adalat settles 461 cases in Nagaland

DIMAPUR — A total of 461 cases were settled during the third quarter National Lok Adalat (NLA) organised by the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA).


In a press release, the NSLSA stated that during the daylong NLA sittings held in different districts, 543 cases were taken up for disposal and the settlement amount was INR 5,62,48,868.


Out of 515 cases at pre-litigation stage, 449 cases were disposed of and out of 28 pending cases, 12 were disposed of successfully. Most of the cases were bank loan recovery, telephone bills and MACT cases, among others.

Mon District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) conducted the third quarterly National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex. Nokshei Kano, District & Sessions Judge and Wokono Yhoshii, Chief Judicial Magistrate, were the presiding officers, with panel lawyers serving as conciliators.


A total of 39 pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up, out of which 11 cases were disposed of, resulting in a total settlement amount of INR 17,55,024.


Tuensang District Legal Services Authority conducted the NLA at SBI Longkhim, which was presided over by Principal District and Sessions Judge Somet Chumden Chang. Retainer lawyer P Herola, and panel lawyer Ayangla acted as conciliators.


All together, 40 bank recovery cases were taken up and 14 bank cases disposed of with a settlement amount of INR 3.69.900, the release stated.


Kiphire District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) held the third Lok Adalat at SBI Bank, Pungro Branch, presided over by Holika Sukhalu, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM).


The Lok Adalat was convened specifically for the settlement of bank loan cases. A total of 29 cases were taken up, out of which 25 cases were successfully disposed of, resulting in a total settlement amount of INR 42,75,700.

Zunheboto DLSA conducted the Lok Adalat at District Court Complex, with District & Sessions Judge Phuleto Yeptho as the presiding officer.


Easter H Yepthomi and Vilibo K Zhimo were the conciliators. All together, 15 pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 13 were disposed of with a total settlement amount of INR 19,02,123.


Wokha District Legal Services Authority conducted the Lok Adalat at District Court Complex, with Seyielenuo Mezhu, District & Sessions Judge, as the presiding officer.


Twelve pre-litigation bank recovery cases and one pending trial bank recovery were taken up and disposed of. The total settlement amount was INR 22,24,621.


Phek DLSA hosted the Lok Adalat at District Court Complex with Duvelu Vero, District & Session Judge, as the presiding officer. Retainer lawyer Sekhotso Rokha, chief LADC Vethothi Vero, and deputy LADC Keneinuo Swuro were the conciliators.


Fifty-nine cases of pre-litigation and bank recovery were taken up and disposed of with a settlement amount of INR 33,09,556.

Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority held its Lok Adalat at the District Court, presided over by CJM Julian Sithlou. The Adalat addressed 14 bank loan recovery cases, disposing of 12 cases, with one Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) case also settled. The total settlement amount was INR 17,12,418.


Peren DLSA conducted the Lok Adalat at SBI Jalukie Branch, Jalukie town, presided over by CJM Atoka Achumi, through video conferencing. Retainer lawyer Italang Ramlia and penal lawyers Kewithinwang, Idosile, Indeu and Kidungyi putlang acted as conciliator. A total of 25 pre- litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 17 were disposed of with settlement amount of INR 13,97,500.


Kohima District Legal Services Authority conducted the Lok Adalat at District Court Kohima, where 40 bank recovery cases and 15 BSNL cases were taken up and disposed of, with settlement amount of INR 1,28,84,877.


Dimapur District Legal Services Authority held its third quarterly Lok Adalat at District Court Complex, with Longshithung Ezung, Principle District & Sessions Judge, and Atoka Achumi, Chief Judicial Magistrate, as presiding officers.


More than 24 banks participated, MACT and BSNL participated. All together, 164 cases were taken up and disposed of with settlement amount of INR 24174325.


Longleng DLSA conducted the Lok Adalat at District Court Complex, presided by DLSA Secretary Kumdilong Kessen.


Retainer lawyer Panglang Y Phom and deputy LADC P Monyei Phom were the conciliators. All together, 77 per-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and disposed of with settlement amount of INR 19,42,824,4.
