Kohima, Oct. 28 (EMN): Kohima Hornbill Gala 2019 will be organised by a group called ‘3E Nagaland’ from December 1 to the 10th at the Naga Solitary Park, below the new Secretariat complex in Kohima. The ‘Hornbill Gala’ will be an event featuring entertainment, sports and music.
Speaking to media persons during a press conference at the Capital Convention Centre on Monday in Kohima, the managing director of 3E Nagaland Kethosituo Elvis informed that there will be Naga wrestling for under-17 years of age in the sports section, while the veteran category for those 40 years of age and over, will be held on December 5.
The winner of Naga Wrestling for juniors will receive INR 20,000, INR 15,000 for the second, INR 10,000 for the third and INR 5000 for the fourth-placed winner.
The winner of Naga Wrestling for veterans will receive INR. 50,000, INR 25,000 for the second, INR 15, 000 for the third and INR 10, 000 for the fourth-placed winner.
The entry fee for the juniors is INR 200 and INR 500 for the veterans. The registration will be from November 1 to the 30th. Interested persons can collect the forms from the 3E Nagaland’s office, Dzevi building, 2nd floor, opposite the UBC in Kohima.
On the evenings of December 6 and the 7th, there will be a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) X1 fight. Khriemelie Metha, co-founder of X1 international, director of tournaments, stated that for the past 13 months, 11 events were conducted across the India. He informed that the MMA nights will be organised under the aegis of the Mixed Martial Arts Association of Nagaland which will have two divisions namely amateur and professional. It will have about 16 fights with eight fights per night in both the categories. It will feature only athletes from the Northeast states, it was informed.
On December 8, Elvis said, the 9th Hornbill half-marathon will be conducted under the aegis of the Nagaland Athletics Association. It will have three competitive categories: Half-marathon for men and women which will cover a distance of 21.09 km; Great Hornbill Run (9.1 km) for boys and girls below class-VIII and below; ‘Special lap,’ a short distance run, for persons with special needs.
The winner of the half marathon will receive INR 50,000, the second INR 25,000 and the third INR 15,000. The “best Naga runner outside top 3” will be awarded with INR 10,000.
The champion of the Great Hornbill Run will receive INR 10,000, the second INR 7,000, the third INR 5,000 and the fourth placed will win INR 3,000. All the participants of the ‘special lap’ will receive gift hampers.
Interested persons may visit the 3E Nagaland office for registration. The dates of submission of entry forms for Nagaland is from November 1 to the 30th while for those from outside, the date has been extended to December 7.
In the music segment of the event, a concert “Classic Night” will be staged on December 9. The concert will commence at 5:00 pm, it was informed. Local bands like Purple Fusion, Incipit and others are likely to perform.
In the “funfair” category of the programme, events will include fun rides, bouncy castles, and movies etc. Food and merchandise stalls will also be set up there. There will solo singing and painting competitions for students below class-VIII, it informed.
