KOHIMA — The 38th
Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) meet is scheduled to take place from
February 4 to the 8th in Phek town. It will be hosted by the PDSA in
collaboration with the Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS).
Nagaland's Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, KG
Kenye, will be the special guest at the inaugural programme, while MLA and NPF
Legislature Party Leader, Kuzholuzo Nienu, will attend as the guest of honour.
PDSA president Nezosa Tetseo informed that around 1,000
athletes from various areas, along with management officials, will participate
in the event. Competitions will be held in track and field events, games, and
Naga wrestling across different categories.
The 38th meet will feature track events such as the 100m, 200m,
400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, and 10,000m races, along with relay races and a mixed
relay race. Field events will include the discus throw, javelin throw, shot
put, long jump, high jump, triple jump, and arm wrestling.
Team games such as football, volleyball, and basketball will
also be part of the competition. In Naga wrestling, men will compete in the
90kg, 75kg, and 65kg categories, while women will compete in the 60kg and 50kg
categories.
The men’s football champion will receive INR 3,00,000, along
with the Late Soyie Doulo Memorial Trophy. The men’s volleyball champion will
be awarded INR 1,00,000, sponsored by Kuzholuzo Nienu, while the runner-up will
receive INR 50,000, along with the Late Vezo Rhakho Memorial Trophy.
The women’s volleyball champion will be awarded INR
1,00,000, along with the Late M. Vero Memorial Trophy, while the men’s
basketball champion will receive INR 1,00,000, along with the Late Vekrosa Vero
Memorial Trophy.
The prizes for the Naga-style wrestling category for both
men and women are sponsored by the VDB Union, Phek Block. The best-disciplined
team will be awarded INR 1,00,000, along with the Late WC Krome Memorial
Trophy, while the group champion will receive INR 2,00,000, along with the Late
Vamuzo Memorial Trophy.
Additionally, the official PDSA tracksuit is sponsored by
M/s S Rame Son’s & Co, and the tournament balls are sponsored by G-Sports
Chümoukedima.
