36-hour bandh hits Karbi Anglong

Our Correspondent Diphu, Dec.16 (EMN): The first day of the36-hour bandh called 16 organisations from 5 am Sunday paralysed normal life in Karbi Anglong. The bandh was called to press for the unconditional release of Karbi Students Association President Simeon Rongphar who was arrested on Saturday. All shops and business establishments, private transportations were off the road. No untoward incident has been reported till the filing of this report. The arrest of Rongphar was made following an FIR lodged against him by Robiram Ronghang at Diphu police station against the alleged use of “unparliamentary words” to the chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang during a public meeting on Dec. 11.
