A 35-year-old man died while cleaning a ring well at Darogapathar, Dimapur, after reportedly losing consciousness inside

DIMAPUR — A 35-year-old man died while attempting to clean a ring well at Darogapathar, near Baba Granite and Sanitary shop, 3rd Mile, on Friday.
According to SDRF rescue team commander Havildar Yevuxu Swu, the team received a distress call at around 11.10 am and immediately launched a rescue operation. The team reached the spot at around 11.40 am and retrieved the body at approximately 12.20 pm.
The deceased was identified as Dibyajyoti, a resident of Master colony, Lane 10, Naharbari.
Swu said three persons had gone to clean the ring well when Dibyajyoti reportedly began coughing and lost consciousness after entering it. One of his colleagues attempted to enter the well but found it difficult to breathe and turned back midway, avoiding a similar fate.
The body was handed over to the family after completion of police formalities.
