
Dimapur, Nov. 12 (EMN): As many as 333 inner line permit (ILP) defaulters were detected during a daylong verification drive carried out by three teams, consisting Kohima District Administration and Police, in and around Kohima town on Saturday.
The Kohima District Administration informed in a press release informed that a total of INR 77,490 was collected as penalty from the ILP defaulters and the amount will be deposited as government revenue.
“During the verification drive, cases of ILP with expiry date and some without valid pass were detected and accordingly penalty were imposed as per section (2), (3) and (4) of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR), 1873,” according the update.
“The Special Task Force constituted for ILP verification will be conducting periodic checking for detection of illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters,” it added.
The verification drive was initiated nearly two weeks after Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C issued a notice about regular checking of inner line permit (ILP) in the district, as per the directive of the state government, for detection of illegal immigrants.
