MOKOKCHUNG, MAY 16: Defending champions, 3 Kings lifted the 2nd Spring Challenge Sixer Running Trophy for the second year in a row after defeating Juggernaut by 30 runs in the final match played at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Saturday.
Batting first after being put in, the champions stacked up 73 runs for the loss of two wickets in their allotted six overs. The opening partnership between Toshimeren and Among, which stood at 68, was the foundation on which the total was built.
In reply, Juggernaut could muster only 43 runs at the cost of four wickets in six overs. Their chase went till the final over, but despite their best, the target proved to be too steep in the end. Akangtoshi of 3 Kings was the man-of-the-match after he took four wickets at the cost of 18 runs.
Toshimeren was adjudged the player of the tournament in recognition of the 108 runs he collected. The champions walked away richer by Rs 12000, along with a trophies and certificates. Juggernaut also received Rs 7000 with a trophy and certificates. The three-day event, organized by Yongpang Club, saw participation from 18 teams.
