- DIMAPUR — In an
unfortunate fire incident, around four thatch houses were reduced to ashes at
Police Complex, Chümoukedima, on Tuesday morning.
- However, the was no report of any human casualty or injury.
- Officer in charge of Chümoukedima Fire Station, Neiketou
Sopfu, informed Eastern Mirror that after receiving a distress around 11:35 am,
fire personnel from the station rushed to the scene with three fire tenders.
- While the fire was put under control fire within 35 minutes,
it took around two hours to fully extinguish the inferno, he said.
- According to the officer, the fire emanated from one of the
police quarters located inside the 1st NAP Chümoukedima Police Complex.
- Two LPG cylinders exploded but timely intervention prevented
the fire from spreading to surrounding areas, Sopfu said.
- The cause of the fire and estimated loss of property were
yet to be ascertained.
