Dimapur, April 23 (EMN): India registered more than three lakh new Covid-19 cases for two consecutive days on Friday as 3,32,730 fresh infections were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the data provided by the Union Health Ministry.
The country’s active cases have now being pushed to 24,28,616 (about 12.28 lakh) and tally to 16,263,695 (about 1.62 crore).
Ten states -- Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Rajasthan – account for 75.01% of the new Covid-19 cases, according to the Health Ministry data. It added that Maharashtra reported the highest daily new Covid-19 cases at 67,013, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 34,254 and Kerala with 26,995.
The country registered 2,263 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 186,920 at a mortality rate of 1.15%.
As many as 1,93,279 recoveries were also registered, pushing the country’s cumulative recoveries to 1,36,48,159 at an 83.92% recovery rate.
In terms of vaccination, 13,54,78,420 vaccine doses have been administered through 19,38,184 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Friday. Out of this 31,47,782 doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
