2ND WCSU Open Dance Explosion Competition held at Wokha

EMN DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 8 Hebron School Dimapur won the “2nd WCSU open dance explosion competition- 2014” held Saturday evening at GHSS auditorium, Wokha on the theme “Unveil your dancing skill” with Dr. Chumben Murry ex-minister and member PAC govt. of Nagaland and Limasunep Jamir (IPS) SP Wokha as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively. The Wokha Circle Students Union (WCSU) has organized the events for two consecutive years with an aim to give a platform and to promote the students to involve in extra-curricular activities apart from their studies alone.Dr. Chumber Murry while speaking on the event as the chief guest, clinched the thought of students’ body for their enhanced horizon. ‘Dance an art makes rejuvenation of minds,’ Murry said while lauding the innovativeness of WCSU. He encouraged them to continue to be innovative in complimentary to the government. The Deputy Commissioner Wokha A. Woben Lotha, in his speech said, young generation expectation is high. On the art of dance he said, performing through body movement - expresses an emotional feeling, social interaction which a non-verbal communication between human and animal kingdom. He said dance should convey a message to the people and the world around on various issues. He also lauded the students’ organization for organizing a unique event in giving a platform to the aspiring students in the district. Limasunep Jamir (IPS) SP Wokha as the chief guest and Christopher asst. general secy NSF in their speeches conveyed their greetings to the Union for their unique idea in organizing the competition. They also encouraged the students’ body for giving platform to the upcoming generation, that one can pursue dance as a profession, although time posing - a boom job. Altogether 14 participants consisting groups and solos vied for the open competition. Jianpu Riammei-1st runners-up Naga got talent-2010 & “footloose” national hornbill dance competition-2013 enchanted the event with beautiful and enthralling dance-cum-choreography. Hebron School and Crazy Street Freaker (CSF) both Dimapur and Jacqueline of LMS School Wokha secured winner, first and second runners-up received a cash award of 20000, 15000 and 10000 respectively. Individual prizes amounting 1000 each were pocketed by David Ezung, Yangsupe Sangtam of zippy crew and Issac of break thunder boys. The event panel of judges was Nzan Ngullie, Manager & Head Choreographer of Xzeria Dance Studio, Dimapur, Moses Giri, Proprietor & Choreographer of Planet Dance Studio, Wokha. Earlier, the dance programme was invocated by Rev. F. Nyan Lotha, pastor LBC, welcome note by Chanbemo Humtsoe President WCSU, A brief competition note by Taokavi Achumi Addl. SP (Event Manager), Cultural Song performed by ANPSA, Wokha unit, special song presented by Shanchobeni & Orenvungi and Hip-hop Remix staged by Avung ft. Ekon Khyobenthung Tsopoe Asst Professor, MTC and Zanbeni Humtsoe, PGT GHSS Bhandari were the event comperes respectively. WCSU had specially thanked the district administration, police, programme officials, DPRO, 17th Assam Rifles, ANAPSA (Wokha Unit), Principal GHSS, WDVCA, WDVDBA, WDCC-ICU, WDCC, LOUDHEP, Team Metamorphosis, Yanrenthung Humtsoe, EE PHED, S.Y. Lotha (Lt. Col. Retd) Tatar, CAO Caretaker Kyong, Lan Computer, Hotel Hornbill and media. The students union also acknowledged all contestants and well-wishers for extending their invaluable contribution in making the event a grand success.
