Dimapur, Jan. 24 (EMN): Aboi District Demand Committee on Monday stated that the second phase of the agitation would begin from today (Jan. 25) and total bandh would be imposed until its demand for
full-fledged district is fulfilled.
In a statement on Monday, ADDC stated that it had successfully completed its first phase of bandh within the jurisdiction of the KU units of Aboi Hqs, Chen Hqs and Longchang Hqs by picketing the government offices and restriction of government vehicular movement.
“It is anticipated that the Government of Nagaland listens to the call made by the common public without making any excuses on any tribal aspects. The ADDC would also like to mention that the demand for Aboi District was initiated in 2008 with No Objection Certificate received from the Apex Body Konyak Union and later included in the Cabinet Memo 2011 as Aboi in SL No 1 and Noklak in SL No 2.
“Further, the Aboi District Demand Committee and Konyak Union (Apex Body) had an undertaking on 15th October 2021, in which the house resolved to seek for creation of a new district in Konyak soil with the objective to bring development and progress to the vast population of the Konyak. After much hue and cry, it is the government who failed to declare Aboi HQ with the rest as a district on 18th December 2021 despite fulfilling criteria as required by the state government,” read the statement.
It said that the Committee would not remain quiet until its demand is fulfilled by the Government of Nagaland “as this demand is a public demand without any differences and division within the tribe”.
