The Faith in Action Taekwondo Academy from Nagaland emerged over all Champion in the 2nd North East Taekwondo Championship held in Jorhat, Assam on July 11- 12, 2015.
72 players from Faith in Action Taekwondo Academy clinched 39 Gold, 27 Silver, and 17 Bronze medals in sparring, patterns, pair and group patterns competition in Pee-Vee, sub-junior, junior and senior divisions in both male and female categories besides 6 Best Fighter’s Award and the “Best of the Best Fighter’s Trophy” in Open Black Belt Challenge Category.In the closing ceremony on July 12, guest of honor Dr. K.M. Bujarbarua, Vice Chancellor of Assam University and Palit Kumar Borah, National Secretary for Bharatiya Janata Party, Kissan Morcha exhorted the players to be discipline and focus in the game in making India and Northeast proud in National and International Championships.
Borah, who is also the President of Assam Taekwondo Association, said that Faith in Action team from Nagaland has a very good reputation in world level in the field of martial arts and he is interested for the team’s endurance and assured that he will meet the Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi in the coming week and discuss about the team and their achievements that they made for India and the North-East. Meanwhile, the Faith in Action Foundation wishes all the players for their success and also the parents for their supports.
It may be mentioned that Faith in Action Taekwondo Academy has selected 75 players from their academies to represent the State in the tournament.
The Championship was organised by Taekwondo Association of Assam in association with Faith in Action Foundation. The players from Nagaland had competed in Kyurogi, Poomsae, Pair Poomsae and Group Poomsae in Pee-Vee, Sub Junior, Junior, Senior division in both Boys and Girls category in the two days mega event Taekwondo Championship.
Meanwhile, the Faith in Action Taekwondo contingent has arrived here at 2 am on July 13.
It is worth noting here that the Faith in Action Taekwondo Academy from Nagaland has also got overall champion in the 1st North East Taekwondo Championship held here at Dimapur Club last year. The Academy is being run by Deep Kumar, Black Belt 4th Dan.
