The 2nd G Rio Memorial Volleyball Trophy gets underway at Khuochiezie Local Ground in Kohima.
DIMAPUR — The 2nd G Rio Memorial Volleyball Trophy, held as part of the 13th Kohima Open Tournament for men and women, commenced under the aegis of the Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) at Khuochiezie (Kohima Local Ground) on Thursday.
MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso attended the opening ceremony as the special guest and noted that sporting events offer youth a platform to learn social skills, forge friendships, and gain self-confidence, while calling on young people to maintain unity.
According to an update, in the opening men's match, ACSP Brothers Kohima defeated Mezoma Youth Organisation 25-11, 25-16. In the women's category, MADFA Dimapur defeated United Sister Zhadima 25-19, 25-8.
Nagaland Volleyball Association President Visasilie Suhu and Angami Sports Association President Rokovikho Chale were among those present at the inaugural programme.
The entry fee for spectators has been fixed at INR 50. Matches on October 30 will begin at 8 am.
