The Nagaland Designers’ Association (NDA) will be organising its second edition of Nagaland Fashion Week (NFW) 2018 on October 30 and the 31st in Kohima and the grand finale on November 4 in Dimapur.
This year the event will showcase designs based on ethnic fusion fall/winter collection which is said to be diagrammed in providing a stage to the many talented designers who will unfold the hidden ethnic cache through their creative collections.
The show will focus on the perspective of taking Nagaland’s fashion scene on an avenue of discovering new creative frontiers with intend of transforming the potential of fashion designers in the State. This was informed by the NDA members during a press conference held at Press Point (Tir Yimyim Office), Super Market in Dimapur on Sat. Oct. 27.
Saying that the fashion industry is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, Rosou Rhi, President of NDA cited it as a bridge between local designers and consumers.
Model and assistant editor of Windows Media from Nagaland, Opang Jamir is set to be the show director and choreographer and informed that three prominent female personalities from Nagaland will grace the occasion as ‘lady of the event’ on the three days set for the fashion week.
NDA intends to promote local textiles and handlooms in the fashion arena has decided to revive the ethnicity under the theme ‘Evole’ giving liberty to use handlooms to its maximum during this year’s show.
“The state government is not focusing on the fashion industry here which is very discouraging,” Jamir said while adding that the industry should be taken more seriously and that this sector should be given a chance to grow with encouragement.
This year the designs will be under three categories, mergence, enthusiast and generation next. The show will give an opportunity for designers to work under reputed fashion designers in the country and will also include an exclusive photo shoot with a renowned photographer to get featured in fashion magazines and publications.
The shows will be held at Hotel Vivor in Kohima and Bamboo Resource Centre in Dimapur.
Tickets will be made available at the venue on the day of the show priced at INR 500 (admit 3) and INR 200 (admit 1) respectively.
