Dimapur, Aug. 25 :Animal Concern one of the oldest Veterinary clinic in Dimapur has come a long way from a modest clinic to making a mark in the field of veterinary practise by performing the first dog spinal surgery at a private clinic level in India in 2014 by specialist consultant Dr Michael Imti Imchen. The spinal surgery was done at Animal Concern clinic in Dimapur.
On Saturday Dr. Imchen performed his second spinal surgery on a three year-old dog at his modest Animal Concern clinic located at Nagagaon in Dimapur. The pet dog belonged to a pet lover from Diphu town in Assam who travelled all the way to Dimapur on the recommendation of a relative from Diphu. The devoted owner was not concerned for the cost involved to save their four legged friend, said Dr. Imchen touched by the owner’s gesture and concern.
The surgery team was led by the visiting specialist consultant, Dr Imchen, which took four hours for the surgery to complete.
“The patient was found injured along the spine leading to paraplegia by its owner two weeks ago in Diphu town. The surgery was successfully completed but the prognosis for complete recovery will be known only after a week or two and expected to undergo physiotherapy thereafter”, Dr. Imchen explained.
It may be noted that the Animal Concern clinic is the only veterinary institution in the state with modern equipments, state of the art lab for blood tests, only skin disease lab for animals in the state, dental scaling facilities. Dr. Imchen was also conferred ‘Best Veterinarian award’ in 2016 for his outstanding contribution in the field of veterinary practice and also for his selfless approach towards animals.
