WOKHA — Defending champions Highlander,
Chümoukedima, will clash with LCYO in the final of the 29th Winter Cricket
Challenge on January 7 at Wokha town local ground.
In the first semi-final match played on Monday, Juggernaut
CC won the toss and opted to bat first, setting a target of 133/10 in 20 overs.
Their openers Gaurav (36) and Anil Sharma (42), provided a strong start with an
impressive 88-run partnership. However, the middle order crumbled under the
pressure from LCYO's bowlers, with Chenithung Patton delivering an impressive
spell (4-0-21-2).
LCYO's chase was marked by aggressive batting from Nzanthung
Mozhui, who scored a rapid 50 runs off 30 balls, and Renjanthung Tungoe, who
added another 58 runs off 47 balls.
Despite Juggernaut's bowler Gaurav taking 2 wickets, LCYO
reached the target in 17.3 overs. Renjanthung Tungoe was awarded the Man of the
Match for his outstanding performance.
In the second semi-final, Rising Star won the toss and chose
to bat first, setting a competitive target of 169/6 in 20 overs. Key
contributions came from Dipu Gogoi (34) and Deepak Sahoo (56 not out), with
support from Janbemo Kikon and Adarsh Maurya (24 each). Asif Wasim excelled
with the ball, taking 3 wickets in 4 overs.
Highlander Chümoukedima's chase was dominated by a
sensational innings from Shamphri Terang, who scored 97 runs off 54 balls.
Sunil Sharma added 26 runs, playing a crucial role in maintaining the flow of
runs.
Despite an impressive bowling performance by Hayithung Ezung
(4-1-20-2), Highlander won the match by 4 wickets.
Shamphri Terang was named Man of the Match for his stellar
performance.
