Dimapur, Oct. 28 (EMN): The 25th edition of late Nyamo Lotha and Daniel Lotha (ND) Football Running Trophy with the theme "reminiscing pioneers" commenced on Monday, October 28 at the state stadium, DC court in Dimapur. Games and sports secretary of Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) Rhontsuthung Kikon Dimapur administered the oath-taking of the players at the inaugural ceremony.
The opening match was played between the defending champions Lotha Colony Football Club (LCFC) and Patkai Lotha Students' Union (PLSU) where the former thrashed the latter 4-0.
Hatsabemo of LCFC became the first player to score a hat-trick in the tournament on Monday. The other goal was scored by Yantsothung.
In the second match of the day, Yanmhon Area Football Club defeated Bor Lengri Okotso XI 3-0.
Altogether, 21 teams are participating in the tournament. The DLSU organises the running trophy in memory of late Nyamo and Daniel every year.
The winner of the 25th edition of the trophy will win a cash prize of INR 1 lakh and INR 70,000 for the runners-up. Five individual winners: Player of the Tournament; Highest Scorer; Best Defender; Best Goalkeeper; and Young Emerging Player will be awarded with INR 5000 each.
The final match and closing ceremony will be held on November 6 and it will be graced by Dimapur Municipal Council administrator Albert Ezung as the special guest.
