25 youths completed a 50-hour basic blacksmith skill training programme in Chetheba town, organised by the state government and Zynorique Initiatives Society.

KOHIMA — A total of 25 youths were trained in the basic blacksmith trade at Chetheba town under Phek district, completing 50 hours of intensive training over seven days, which culminated on Wednesday.
The training programme was organised by the Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and conducted by Zynorique Initiatives Society (ZIS) under the skill development initiative titled “Providing Access to Core Employability Skills (PACES)".
Addressing the culmination event, Setsoyi Keyho, Chairman of the Chetheba Town Welfare Committee (CTWC), maintained that the skill training was much needed for the youth and expressed confidence that the programme would yield positive results.
He asserted that the training marked an important step for those who have been trained to move towards a sustainable livelihood and urged the trainees to remain focused on their profession. Additionally, Keyho encouraged the trainees not to give up on their trade, stressing the importance of dedication, hard work, and consistent practice to achieve success and financial stability.

Thepukrayi Nienu, General Secretary of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), 18th Assembly Constituency, said in his speech that the skill training programme on blacksmithing was a first of its kind and acknowledged the initiative.
He lauded the Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the training partner for their dedicated efforts and expressed hope that more such initiatives would be introduced by the department in the future to support sustainable livelihoods.
On the occasion, trainees Kehuye Keyho and Bedulhu Nienu delivered speeches on behalf of the participants, sharing their experiences. They said that the knowledge and skills gained during the training would be put into practical use while appreciating the trainers for their dedication.
They also encouraged fellow trainees to continue practising and use their skills for livelihood and community benefit.
The programme aims to enhance job readiness and livelihood opportunities for rural youth and women by equipping them with practical, demand-driven skills that can lead to self-employment and sustainable income generation.
