- DIMAPUR — The
24th ANPSA Dimapur Sports Meet 2025 commenced on Friday at Greenwood School,
Dimapur, bringing together 18 schools from across Dimapur under the banner of
All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA), Dimapur Unit.
- The sports meet was organised with the objective of bringing
schools together in a spirit of healthy competition and inculcating a sporting
culture among students, an update stated.
- Guided by the motto, ‘Strength in unity, victory in spirit,’
the event was conducted professionally with high standards, inspiring
participating schools to elevate the quality of sports within their own
institutions.
- The meet emphasised perseverance, discipline, integrity, and
sportsmanship, fostering not only competition but also a deeper appreciation
for the journey towards excellence.
- The opening ceremony was attended by Kethosituo Sekhose,
Director of Youth Resources and Sports (YR&S), as the chief guest; Col. Lovelash
Panghal, Commanding Officer, 1st Girls’ Nagaland Battalion, NCC, as the special
guest, and Nini Sekhose, president of ANPSA Central, as the guest of honour.
- In his address, the YR&S director spoke about the state
government’s commitment to supporting young athletes through the construction
of indoor stadiums and football turfs in every district.
- Sekhose emphasised that sports is no longer just a hobby but
a viable career path, and applauded ANPSA Dimapur for organising the
district-level sporting event.
- He also expressed optimism about future collaborations
between the YR&S department and ANPSA to host similar events at the state
level. Urging participants to compete with determination and a spirit of fair
play, he reinforced the significance of such events in nurturing talent and
fostering sportsmanship.
- The ceremony featured a spectacular march-past competition
among 11 schools, judged by officials from the Office of the Commissioner of
Police, Dimapur, the CRPF, and NCC Boys Coy. Greenwood School clinched first
place in the march-past, with Bethesda Higher Sec. School and Pilgrim Hr. Sec
School securing second and third places, respectively. Day one also showcased
thrilling contests in track and field events and relay races, with students
demonstrating exceptional skill, endurance, and teamwork.
