Nagaland Lokayukta report records 240 service terminations, INR 1.22 crore recovery and 86 cases registered through February 2026
KOHIMA — The Directorate of Investigation, Nagaland Lokayukta, recovered INR 1.22 crore through investigations and reported 240 persons terminated from service, according to the Nagaland Lokayukta Annual Report 2025 tabled during the recent session of Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The report's data runs up to February 12, 2026.
The report stated that INR 1,22,26,776 was recovered through investigations in cases that were closed, while 34 persons were penalised following investigations. As of February 12, 2026, 240 persons had been terminated from service.
During the period from December 18, 2024 to February 12, 2026, the Lokayukta registered 86 cases, comprising 68 Preliminary Enquiries (PE) and 18 Regular Cases (RC), the latter being criminal cases.
Of these, 31 cases—26 PE and five RC—were disposed of during the period. Another 52 cases, including 42 PE and 10 RC, were under investigation across various departments as of Feb. 12, 2026.

The Public Works department and Rural Development (RD) department had the highest number of cases under investigation, with seven each. Tourism followed with six cases, while Planning and Transformation and School Education had three cases each.
Forest and Food & Civil Supplies had two cases each. Departments with one case under investigation included Administration, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Disaster Management, DUDA, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Information & Public Relations, Police, Taxes, Urban Development and Water Resources. Seven other cases were listed under various departments.
The report also stated that seven cases were under trial or awaiting final report submission before the Special Court of Nagaland Lokayukta. Four cases, which had been pending before the Special Judge and Tribunal for Prevention of Corruption (TDP), Nagaland Lokayukta, were withdrawn after chargesheets were filed following the inception of the Lokayukta on Feb. 22, 2019.
Action taken on disposed cases also resulted in the recovery and utilisation of INR 16,53,457 for the intended works, according to the report.
Among the works completed following Lokayukta intervention were one medical officer quarter and two staff quarters under the department of Health and Family Welfare, as well as the post-harvest management of horticulture crops in Dimapur, Mokokchung, Phek, Tuensang, Peren and Wokha.
Five incomplete projects under RD department were also completed, with signboards installed in accordance with MGNREGA guidelines.
The report further recorded the completion of incomplete works amounting to INR 81,89,352 for construction of an RCC bridge over the Lanki River under the PWD, and completion of an Integrated Catchment Area Treatment (ICAT) project covering 10 villages in Kohima district under the Soil and Water Conservation department.
