Kohima, Oct. 30 (EMN): The 24th edition of Classic Cup will be held from Nov. 2 which will go on till Nov. 19 at the Kohima local ground under the theme ‘live it up’.
The champions of the tournament will walk home with a cash prize of INR 150,000 while the runners-up will receive a cash prize of INR 80,000 besides individual awards.
Altogether 23 teams will be participating in this year’s edition. Kohima Bible College, Brotherhood FC, Deja Vu Edition FC, Samaritan FC, Young Komet FC and Naga Jaguars FC in Group-A.
Head Hunter, Kohima Royal Kick’s, Zhadima Jr. FC, Phoenix FC, Chizami United FC and Fore Runner Thizama in Group-B.
Elite Brother’s, Phezoucha Youth Organisation, Kohima Eagles FC, Tiema-Khe, Kijumetouma VSU and Kuluopfu FC, Pochury in Group -C
Chedima Village Youth Organisation, The Quakers FC, King’s FC, Ethereal FC and United VNS, Dimapur in Group-D.
Kohima Eagles FC, the semi-finalist in the 23rd edition will be among the favourite team to win the cup.
Challenger Cup: Classic Club vs Kohima Press Club on Nov. 18
The 11th edition of the Challenger Cup between Classic Club and Kohima Press Club will be played on Nov. 18, 2pm at Kohima local ground.
The challenger cup is aimed at bringing more friendship and unity amongst the Classic Club and the media fraternity based in the state capital, the exhibition match is expected to generate much fun fare and excitement.
The annual feature football exhibition match started in 2006 will be in its 11th edition this year. For the record, the Classic Club lifted the title seven times (2006, 2007, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017), while KPC won three times (2009, 2012 and 2013).
