Dimapur, August 13: A total of 23 youths hailing from Kohima, Phek, Kiphire, Wokha, Peren, Dimapur and Tuensang districts, who were given pre-recruitment training by 9 Assam Rifles, have cleared the Indian Army Selection Examination. The pre-recruitment training by the unit enabled the Naga youth to succeed in the recruitment rally attended by over 3000 candidates.
Felicitation ceremony for the successful youth was organised at HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles. The ceremony was attended by Sentiyanger Imchen, Principal Secretary and Commissioner of Nagaland Border Affairs, Justice & Law, and the Commander HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles. Selected youth with family members and village heads of nearby villagers also attended the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Sentiyanger Imchen has lauded the efforts made by 9 Assam Rifles and HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles to train the boys for the Army recruitment. He also highlighted the unemployment situation in Nagaland and the importance of getting enrolled in the Indian Army and told the young boys that Army training is tough but it makes men out of boys. He advised the successful candidates to take the opportunity to interact with people from all over the country and learn to live in harmony and be a worthy ambassador of Nagaland.
All the successful candidates expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Assam Rifles for being true friends and mentors of the hill people. They attributed that without the support of security forces, their success would not have been possible.
Locals along with security forces were thrilled by their achievement as it displayed that the Naga youth had put their heart and soul to join the Indian Army.
