Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): A total of 227 patients have availed free medical services during a health mela at Longchem Primary Health Centre (PHC) under Mokokchung district on April 17. The health mela was organised by District Health Society, Mokokchung, under the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
A District Health Society press release stated that a total of 227 patients were examined and given medicines free of cost. During the health mela, the team could carry out 16 dental extractions, nine dental fillings (restoration). Besides, 68 eye screenings were done out of which seven cases of cataract were detected and referred to IMDH for further necessary treatment. It added that two laparoscopic sterilisation and four Copper T insertions were done during the camp.
IEC staff also conducted FGD and IPC and distributed leaflets on different health programmes, while the DVBO Mokokchung and team conducted training for ASHAs on malaria elimination strategies.
The team included Deputy CMO, DVBO, Dr. Ademla, gynaecologist, and her laparoscopic team, MOs from nearby health units, dental surgeon, opthalmic assistant, IEC and NHM staff and assisted by six ASHAs from nearby villages.
In a short inaugural programme, Longchem adhoc town chairman welcomed the health team and thanked the department for conducting such camps for the people living in hard to reach areas.
